Malik Mohammad Javed

Malik Mohammad Javed is a deputy counselor for consular and community affairs with the Pakistani mission in Baghdad. He was seized on his way to a mosque for evening prayers. Mr. Javed has lived in Iraq for 6 years.

An individual purporting to represent a group called Omar bin Khattab claimed the abduction by phone on April 10. However, a proof-of-life video released on April 15 was signed by the Amoriya Squadron.

Mr. Javed has been in touch with his family by phone. He has stated that he is being held for a ransom of US$500,000.
