Mohammed Haroun Hamad
Seized: 2005-03-09 held for 253 days

Mohammed Haroun Hamad works as a truck driver for a Turkish firm. He was seized along with Maher Ataya. Both men are described as working at an airbase north of Baghdad, presumably Balad.

A video featuring the two, along with denunciation of their work as "abandonment of Islam" and threats to try them in an unofficial Islamic court, was released on March 9. It is unclear when the men were seized.

On April 6, their captors released a video announcing that the men were being freed. the video also showed Mr. Hamad and Mr. Ataya expressing remorse for working with the U.S. occupation force and pleading for a chance to "make up for what we have done". Their release has yet to be officially confirmed.
