Unidentified Egyptian Engineer #4
This individual was seized along with Unidentified Egyptian Engineer #1, #2 and #3 in a vehicle ambush near the upscale Mansour district en route to work. He was reported to have escaped along with Unidentified Egyptian Engineer #3 from the car in which they were being held. There has been much confusion in the reports of the four Egyptians' emergence from captivity. Some outlets stated that all four had been released voluntarily, others that all or half of the group had been rescued when U.S. troops stormed the house in which they were kept. The latter reports are presumably based on a statement by the Orascom chairman to CNN ascribing the rescue to a joint U.S.-Iraqi operation. Submit information or correction |
