Roy Hallums (initially misreported as Roy Hallun) is a 56-year-old American employee of SATCO, a Saudi catering company that he has worked for for 11 years.

Mr. Hallums was seized along with Yunus Kawari, Roberto Tarongoy and 3 Iraqi nationals from their company office in the exlusive Mansour district of Baghdad. One Iraqi security guard and one of the assailants was killed during the raid. A video showing Mr. Hallums pleading for his life was released on January 26.

Accounts vary as to the fate of the 3 Iraqis. They are alternately said to have been released after at least 2 of them were beaten, or decapitated following an on-video confession of spying for the United States. In the latter accounts, they are described as Iraqi National Guardsmen and their bodies found in or near the Tigris across from the Green Zone. It is entirely possible that the 3 murder victims are not the 3 seized from SATCO.

On September 7, coalition forces located and freed Mr. Hallums along with an unidentified Iraqi individual.

Mr. Hallums is divorced with two daughters.
